Description

Petro Tech Middle East offers Measurement While Drilling (MWD) services, providing real-time data on drilling operations. MWD tools transmit vital information such as rate of penetration, weight on bit, wellbore trajectory, and rotational speed to the surface. This data helps directional drillers steer the well accurately, ensuring it follows the desired path.

Unlike Logging While Drilling (LWD), which focuses on rock properties like porosity and resistivity, MWD centers on the progress and conditions of the drilling operation. MWD systems also support geosteering, allowing operators to make on-the-fly decisions about the wellbore path. Using mud-pulse telemetry, data is transmitted digitally to the surface, and MWD systems can even receive commands to adjust the direction of the drill bit.

MWD tools are capable of real-time directional surveys using accelerometers and magnetometers to measure inclination and azimuth, providing precise wellbore location calculations. Additionally, MWD tools offer valuable data on conditions at the drill bit, including penetration rate, downhole temperature, torque, and vibrations. This information helps optimize the drilling process, prevent tool failure, and improve overall efficiency.

Petro Tech Middle East is committed to utilizing the latest MWD technology to deliver top-tier service and enhance drilling performance for our clients.

MWD tools can also provide information about the conditions at the drill bit. This may include:
  • Rate of penetration
  • Rotational speed of the drill string
  • Smoothness of that rotation
  • Type and severity of any vibration downhole
  • Downhole temperature
  • Torque and weight on bit, measured near the drill bit
  • Mud flow volume
